Christian Gerondeau trained as an engineer and graduated from two of France’s most prestigious academic institutions, Ecole Polytechnique and Ecole des Ponts ParisTech. During his career, he has exercised a number of leading official functions in France and in Europe.

For several years, he was France’s Mr Road Safety, reporting directly to the Prime Minister; he played a key role in introducing compulsory seat belt wearing in France and then in Europe, a measure which has since saved tens of thousands of lives.

He also designed the plans for the Regional Express Metro (RER), a transport network covering Paris and its suburbs, which now serves as a world reference for public transport systems.

Mr Gerondeau was later on Head of Mission for the World Bank and for the European Commission, for which he drew up a European Policy on Road Safety. After working for several years in the private sector, he is now President of the Ecole Polytechnique Alumni (AX).

Mr Gerondeau has written a large number of books on transport, road safety, the environment and other subjects such as free enterprise. Several have been translated into English, including Transport in Europe.

His latest book, CO2, un mythe plantétaire includes a preface by Valéry Giscard d’Estaing, former President of the French Republic and one of the most respected personalities in Europe.

The English version is available under the title “Climate, the great delusion” (Stacey International Publishers, London).

By Christian Gérondeau on ParisTech Review

Rarement un débat aura autant préoccupé l'opinion et les médias que celui qui fait rage aujourd'hui à propos de l'évolution du climat et de la responsabilité éventuelle de l'humanité à son égard.
Rarely has a debate preoccupied the media and public opinion as much as the one that is raging today on climate change and the possible impact of human activities.
