He has been living in Shanghai, China since 2010 and has been involved with connected goods ever since. He first worked at Pernod Ricard leading the launch of “the Internet of bottles,” a solution connecting each individual Pernod Ricard bottle to the cloud. He then founded in 2014 madeforgoods, a startup that provides a unique SaaS (software as a service) for the management of connected consumer goods.
Thomas is fascinated with the digital revolution in China, and the leap frogs made in less than a decade in e-commerce, payment, and social media. He is convinced that the Internet of things will be the most exciting tech revolution over the next 5 years. Within this revolution, madeforgoods and Thomas intend to help shape how consumer goods and people will connect.
Connected goods will lead to 5 transformations in retail: digital shopping in brick-and-mortar stores, perfect trade promotions, optimal consumer engagement, drastic reductions in counterfeiting and food waste. All this by 2025? The biggest obstacle is the cost of change: technology is already mostly out there.
