A graduate from Institut National Polytechnique de Toulouse (France), Pierre Massotte had a successful career at IBM, where he was appointed Scientific Director for EMEA (Europe, the Middle East and Africa). He later joined Ecole des Mines d’Alès, a school of engineering, as deputy director of LGI2P Research Center (Laboratoire de Génie Informatique et d’Ingénierie de Production).
After retiring he created Institut de l'Innovation et du Développement (I2D), a consulting firm specialized in innovation.
Mr. Massotte holds a PhD in industrial engineering. In recent years he has published two academic books, on risk management and decision making. He is currently working on another project, to be published by Chapman.
Long relegated to the fringes of the industrial world, social innovation is now finding its way into business practices and strategies. The related notions of emergence and self-organization are creating new, bottom-up models. Before trying to manage them, better to understand them.
