Bertrand Collomb / Honorary chairman of Lafarge Group

Bertrand Collomb is Honorary Chairman of Lafarge, a world-wide leader in building materials.

A graduate of the Ecole Polytechnique and Mines ParisTech, he also holds a French law degree and a PhD in Management (University of Texas). He also founded the Center for Management Research at the Ecole Polytechnique.

From 1966 to 1975, he worked with the French government in various positions.
He joined Lafarge in 1975. After several responsibilities in various areas of the group, including CEO of Lafarge Corporation, the North American arm of the group (1985-1988), he was appointed chairman and CEO of Lafarge in August 1989. He was Chairman of Lafarge from 2003 to 2007, and is now Honorary Chairman and director of Lafarge.

He is also a director of Total, ATCO and DuPont.

He is Chairman of Ifri (French Institute of International relations), and Chairman of IHEST (Institute for studies in Science and Technology).

He is a member of the Governing Body of the European Institute of Technology (EIT) and a member of the European Corporate Governance Forum.

He is member of the "Institut de France" ("Académie des Sciences Morales et Politiques").
